The purpose of a film promotional package
The purpose of a film promotion package is to attract as much attention from the public as possible. The more attention the film gets the more hype it generates. The more hype a film generates the more likely the film is to spread across social media and word of mouth. This would result in large commercial success upon the release of the film. Our target audience is people from 15-35 Male. The purpose of my promotion package is to generate customer awareness amongst our target audience. Due to our target audience age bracket being 15-35 it means that a large proportion of them would be on social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter and Facebook. The aim of my promotion package would be to try and spread it throughout social media where it could be widely accessed by our target audience. This has been made further possible in my poster as I included links to my films social media accounts.My Film's USP
My films USP would be that it would be the first North Korean nuclear threat film targeting the UK. As well as this it follows the journey of 3 average UK teenagers. This means that it would appeal to mass market, relevant topic, and more niche, relatable protagonists.I did some research prior to my film trailer annotations, these can be seen below:
Action, Thriller, the normality of the teenagers is signalled in normal clothing
The thriller aspect of the film can be seen in shaky handheld camerawork, adding to the urgency and chaotic nature of the situation.
The story follows the journey of the 3 brother to an emergency bunker the wake of an imminent North Korean missile strike. The trailer ends with the brother opening the bunker after the attack and the audience is left wondering who, the parents, and what, the city of London and their home, is left. This is left on a cliffhanger, and is a common convention in film trailers as it encourages audiences to watch the full film when it is released.
The use of a release date means that the customer will be aware of when the film comes out. we also use intertitles to help narrate the story and create an elliptical effect.
Handheld camerawork was effective as well as the peaceful and simplistic editing at the start which connotes ideas of normality and tranquility, in contrast to the chaos and urgency that soon follows.
